Matières premières
This series offers a photographic reflection on the raw materials used in perfumery. Through tight framing and refined composition, these plants are revealed in an unexpected form, almost alien to our habitual perception. Mimosa, vanilla, sage: isolated from their natural context, they lose their usual reference points and transform into surfaces, textures, patterns.
Originally created as a commissioned work for Maison Marie Jeanne, these photographs transcend their initial purpose to question the tension between materiality and abstraction. Far from being mere olfactory evocations, this project examines our sensory relationship with the botanical world when fragrance—intrinsically invisible—is translated into visual imagery.
By capturing the elemental, raw nature of these materials, the series invites a discreet meditation on the essence of creative gesture in perfumery: a collection of organic elements which, once detached from their primary identities, encourage a renewed contemplation of reality’s intricate simplicity.
